TDIA Exhibits Rich Applications of TD-LTE at 2013 International CES

Today, it seems all consumer electronics are looking for flexible methods to access internet and link with each other. Broad band wireless telecommunications solutions have never been such a nature part of CES.  TD-LTE shows its flexibility and availability on high speed wireless communication solutions to all consumer electronics vendors and visitors.

Time-Division Long-Term Evolution (TD-LTE) is one of two variants of the 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology, the other being Frequency-Division Long-Term Evolution (FD-LTE or LTE FDD). TD-LTE offers asymmetric use of unpaired spectrum. The technology supports scalable channel bandwidth, between 1.4 and 20MHz. The unique character makes TD-LTE an accessible enterprise networks for these companies who are looking for reliable high-speed wireless network in the field of public safety, traffic and transportation, utilities and natural resource.

Facilitated by carrier aggregation technology, the DL-SCH throughput of TD-LTE system reaches 224 Mbps in field testing with two component carriers. Meanwhile, TD-LTE supports high-mobility; it enables mobile broadband service in vehicles and high-speed trains. In December 2012, China Mobile deployed TD-LTE coverage for high speed railway in Jiaxing Section between Shanghai and Hangzhou. With the average speed of 300km/h, the data throughput achieves at 15Mbps in the train.

In CES, TDIA shows rich application of TD-LTE such as for Intelligent Home, for SOHO, for Wideband Trunking Service and for MBB services in Vehicles, etc. A wild range of TD-LTE terminals, including mobile phones, data cards, CPE, MiFi, booklet, M2M modules provide visitors more ideas about what TD-LTE can support.

TD-LTE technology is developing rapidly globally. By September 2012, there are 12 TD-LTE commercial networks deployed globally; 24 operators signed 31 TD-LTE commercial contracts; more than 50 TD-LTE trial networks has been setup in the world. Meanwhile, broadband trunking network solution is experiencing fast development, which has been widely deployed in various industries including airport, harbor, utility smart grid, municipal government, underground and railways etc. All these promise a vibrant future of the whole industry.

TD Industry Alliance锛圱DIA) was found in 2002. It is a social organization formed voluntarily by enterprises who actively commit themselves to the development of TDD mobile communication technology and engage in the R&D, production and service of TDD standard and products. By November 2012, TDIA has 90 members, including mobile operators, equipment manufacturers, software vendors and distributors. The research fields of TDIA members cover end to end industrial chain, including RAN, CN, RF devices, antenna, UEs, chipsets, testing instruments, software, service and applications.
