Kyivstar proposes to launch LTE on 1,800 MHz band

Ukrainian mobile operator Kyivstar has issued a statement, proposing the launch of LTE services in Ukraine using 1,800 MHz frequency bands, reports Telecompaper on July 9, 2017. The operator believes the decision will help to significantly accelerate the introduction of LTE services in Ukraine.

According to a statement from the operator, the launch of LTE services on the 2,600 MHz band would take much more time and investments.

Currently, mobile operators already use special solutions so that they can develop LTE technologies on 900 MHz and 1,800 MHz bands. Many cities could be covered with LTE networks by the end of 2018, if the 1,800 MHz bands was used, according to the statement.

State institutions had proposed that operators use 2,600 MHz and 1,800 MHz bands for LTE.
